What is Wake?
Wake Aquatics was created to provide youth of the rural communities east of Austin, Texas the opportunity to join a competitive summer swim team. We are a non-profit organization focused on the development of aquatic programs that support athletic and personal development. Our swim team provides an enjoyable environment to build sportsmanship, character, skills, friendships, and health. Our goal is to develop mentally strong and confident children who can carry the tools of our program into all areas of their lives.
Our home base is Rockdale, TX and we accept members from all surrounding communities. Our season typically begins April 1st (dependent on water temperatures) and runs through the end of July.
Spring of 2020 will be our inaugural season. We will participate in a mock season, competing mostly against ourselves, with 2 official meets in July against other teams. A mock season is designed to teach all swimmers, parents, and volunteers what it takes to run a successful meet and the roles and responsibilities necessary for a swim season. It takes a strong community and an army of dedicated parents and volunteers to support a team such as this and we need everyone’s help getting started. Year 1 is the make it or break it year for a swim team because of equipment costs, operating expenses, and the sheer amount of parent volunteers required.
We are a team driven by our Coach’s vision, where the members control the direction and are empowered through voting and our bylaws to affect positive change.
We look forward to a successful 2020 season and many more seasons to come!
